Snæfellsskáli
Snæfellsskáli is located in a unique environment by the mountain Snæfell, which is the highest mountain in Iceland outside of the glaciers. There is accommodation for approximately 45 people, as well as a camping area, flush toilets, and showers. A park ranger welcomes guests during the summer season. It is possible to stay at Snæfellsskáli year-round, but note that the road to the hut is often not passable until early July. During winter, it is possible to reach the hut with special modified vehicles (Super-jeeps) when the ground is snow-covered and frozen. In winter, there is no running water in the hut. Flush toilets and showers are not in use then, but a dry toilet is available.
