Highland
Árbúðir
Árbúðir stand by the river Svartá, at about 466 meters above sea level. This is a unique place where natural beauty and warm hospitality meet. The lodge is a popular destination for travelers, hikers, and riding groups who travel along the historic routes Kjölur and Sprengisandur. Árbúðir not only offer good accommodation in a cozy mountain hut but also a pleasant summer café, where guests can enjoy hot chocolate, coffee, or homemade treats after a journey through the highlands. It’s a unique experience to sit inside with a view over the vast landscape and mountains – or, on good-weather days, outside on the terrace surrounded by fresh mountain air. Whether you are traveling on horseback, by car, or on foot, Árbúðir is the perfect place to rest, enjoy Icelandic nature, and experience warm service in the heart of the highlands.
