3. Service Description

Huts.is functions as an online booking system that enables property owners to list short-term rental accommodations and allows tenants to search, book, and pay for properties securely. The platform operates as an intermediary, facilitating rentals but does not own or manage the listed properties.

Huts.is reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or remove listings that do not comply with the platform’s guidelines.

4. User Registration and Account Management

4.1 Account Creation

To access Huts.is' services, users agree to abide by these Terms and any future amendments.

4.2 Responsibility for Content

Users are responsible for the accuracy of all information they submit, including personal details and booking details. Huts.is does not pre-screen content, and users assume liability for any misleading or incorrect information they provide.

4.3 Security and Privacy

• Users must keep their account credentials secure and must not share their passwords.

• Any changes to personal information, including email addresses, must be communicated to huts.is.

• Huts.is reserves the right to terminate or restrict access to any user who violates these Terms.

4.4 Communication and Notifications

By using the site for bookings, users consent to receiving transactional emails, notifications, and newsletters related to Huts.is services. Users can opt out of marketing communications but may continue to receive important booking-related emails.

5. User Conduct and Restrictions

Users of Huts.is agree to:

• Only submit truthful and accurate information when creating a listing or making a booking.

• Refrain from posting illegal, inappropriate, or offensive content on the platform.

• Not engage in fraudulent, disruptive, or damaging behavior that could impact Huts.is or its users.

If a user violates these conditions, Huts.is reserves the right to:

1 Restrict or terminate the user's access to the platform.

2 Remove any content posted by the user.

3 Take legal action if necessary.

6. Booking and Rental Process

6.1 Check-in and Check-out

• Properties are available for check-in from 16:00 on the day of arrival.

• The check-out time is 12:00 on the departure date.

• The host is responsible for arranging key collection unless otherwise specified.

6.2 Property Condition and Responsibilities

• Upon arrival, the property must match the description provided on Huts.is.

• Bedding and towels are generally not provided unless specifically stated by the host.

6.3 Cleaning Obligations

• Tenants must clean the property before departure, unless a cleaning service is included in the rental.

• If cleaning is inadequate, the host has the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of 25,000 ISK + VAT.

6.4 Damage and Incident Reporting

• Tenants must immediately report any damages or issues with the property to the host.

• Any damage caused by the tenant must be paid for in full, and the host may deduct repair costs from the tenant’s deposit or charge their credit card.

6.5 Tenant Conduct

• Tenants must respect neighbouring properties and avoid disruptive behaviour to other guests.

• Smoking is strictly prohibited inside properties unless explicitly stated otherwise.

7. Payments and Fees

7.1 Payment Processing

• Full payment is required at the time of booking.

• Payments are processed via credit card through Huts.is' secure booking system.

7.2 Cancellations and Refunds

Our standard cancellation policy allows for cancellations made 7 days or more before the scheduled arrival date to be fully refunded, minus a non-refundable booking fee of ISK 1,000 per occupancy.

If a cancellation is made less than 7 days prior to arrival, no refund will be issued.

Please note that individual hut owners may have stricter cancellation policies, and these may vary from the standard policy. We strongly encourage you to review the specific cancellation terms listed on each hut’s information page before completing your booking.

By proceeding with your reservation, you confirm that you have read and accepted the applicable cancellation policy for the selected property.

Cancellation requests must be submitted via email or another verifiable method.

7.3 Overbookings and Errors

If a property is double-booked and cannot be provided to the tenant, the tenant is entitled to a full refund.

Huts.is is not liable for any errors or oversights made by hosts regarding availability or pricing.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, and materials on www.huts.is are protected under copyright and intellectual property laws. Users may not:

• Copy, reproduce, or modify any content from the website without permission.

• Use the Huts.is logo, branding, or materials for commercial purposes without authorization.

Any unauthorized use of website content may result in legal action.

9. Legal Compliance and Dispute Resolution

9.1 Confirmation of Terms

Acceptance of these Terms complies with paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 10, Act No. 30/2002.

By confirming a booking, the tenant acknowledges and agrees to these Terms. A digital confirmation will be sent upon booking.

Huts.is retains a copy of these Terms in compliance with paragraph 1 of Article 9, Act No. 30/2002. Users can access the Terms on huts.is or via the booking confirmation sent to them by e-mail.

9.2 Legal Disputes

Any disputes arising from the use of Huts.is, including rental agreements and transactions, shall be settled in the District Court of Reykjavik.

10. Final Agreement

By using Huts.is, users confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
